A big thank you to our supporters, back to school information, and more!
All we can say is THANK YOU!
First off, we didn’t want to provide another update without pausing to thank all of you. It’s been a challenging season for different reasons, but at Overture International, we’ve seen a few good things come out of COVID-19. One of which is the fact that it gave us valuable time to have conversations with so many of you and share our mission, values, and goals.
We’ve been able to get to know you on a deeper level and see your hearts for the mission. So, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for sticking by our side during difficult times. We thank you for trusting and entrusting us with your time, energy, and resources. We are grateful for your dedication to helping children, families, and communities thrive – and that you want to do that work alongside us.
This truly wouldn’t be possible without you.
BACK TO SCHOOL
Students return AUGUST 17th!
November 2019: The Haitian school year started several months late due to political unrest.
March 2020: Schools in Haiti shut down due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
This school year was drastically cut short for Haitian students, including the 1,600+ students enrolled in our ESPWA schools and other educational programs.
It’s devastating enough that they’re missing out on crucial educational opportunities – education is a chance at a thriving, bright future after all. But even more devastating, in some cases, was that they were missing out on physically being at school. For many of these students, school is a safe place.
When children stay home they...
...might be at risk of abuse
...might miss out on their only hot meal for that day
...don't learn.
We’ve never been more aware of the importance of both education and the school itself. For more reasons than we can count, it’s been a year of crisis for our students.
That’s why we’re celebrating the return of our students on AUGUST 17th to take their exams and wrap up the 2019-2020 school year!
A NEW CHAPTER begins in NOVEMBER...
the 20/21 School Year
In November, our students at ESPWA and other communities through the South will start back full steam ahead for the new 20/21 school year. For them, it's a brand new chapter, and we want to make it count.
32 students will also begin a new school year in our two-year Young Adult Empowerment Program, where they gain life skills, professional development, and confidence to overcome poverty and thrive!
We believe youth are the future of Haiti, and so we value every student and young adult who walk through our doors, seeking the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.
Stay tuned over the coming months for ways YOU can uniquely support students as they return back to school for the first time in a long time.
Whether it’s through scholarships, supplies or snacks, every dollar contributed to our Education Programs such as ESPWA schools, Hot Lunch Program, and the Young Adult Empowerment Program ensures that our students are given the quality educational opportunity they deserve.
