Team members of OOI began work in Tiburon after Hurricane Matthew in October 2016. While our efforts during that time seemed a minor attempt to provide relief aid, our partnership has continued with the community leaders to develop solutions that will increase the resources needed in this area for families to live in safer structures and provide for their families. As you will see in the pictures, traveling to this area can be a challenge even on a good day. When it rains, this part of Haiti is completely isolated and lacks the ability to receive resources.
Our first project is to build communities with storm resistant structures. Phase 1 will include a relief aid depot for food and supply storage to aid the communities when natural disasters occur.
